cf/x software today announced the 2.0 release of their 'alpha' photo composition software. alpha is used by professional photographers, illustrators, designers and artists around the world for creating high-quality artwork. This update adds major new functionality to central aspects of alpha. It is a free update to all existing owners of alpha version 1.x.

 

New Features

cf/x alpha 2.0 contains significant improvements, based on feedback from users around the world. These enhancements dramatically improve user experience, scope, usability, and include:

- A new template manager to jump-start designs, and that allows the artist to turn their artwork into templates at the touch of a button.

- A wide array of professionally designed templates for SED/Composite Cards, Posters, Yearbooks, Collages, Post Cards, etc.

- 'First Class' text objects that allow the user to treat text just like artwork, including full support for f/x, blends, etc., as well as 'autotext' for dynamic information like date, file names and image size.

- Smart Image Objects that can interact with other Apps to intelligently replace artwork while retaining attributes like transparency, f/x and other properties.

- Geometric objects that allow the user to create supplemental artwork in-application, and that are completely integrated with alpha's blend- and f/x engines.

- Light-, Gradient-, and Pattern Generators.

- Additional layout-generators to reduce repetitive tasks like generating contact sheets from any number of images.

- Additional f/x and blend generators.

- Interface improvements that include canvas zoom (25% to 400%), numerical read-outs for sliders, etc.

cf/x alpha 2.0 requires an Apple Macintosh running OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or better (cf/x alpha is fully Mac OS 10.7 'Lion' compatible). alpha 2.0 provides limited support for Macs running OS 10.5 as well as PPC-based Macs.
